Marsa's versatile player Minabo Asechemie made his debut for the Nigerian national team in a four-nation tournament featuring Ghana, Cameroon, Iran and Nigeria in the last few days.
Asechemie, who joined the Nigerian squad following an invitation from the country's football association, played all games, helping Nigeria to win the tournament.
Damian Iwueke, the player's agent who flew out to Nigeria to watch Asechemie play, said the midfielder has performed creditably, prompting the Nigerian coach to keep him in the squad for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi tomorrow.
Iwueke also revealed that a Swedish club had approached him over Asechemie.
Asechemie has been one of the best performers for Marsa in the last two seasons. Marsa were relegated to Division One after a last-day derby defeat to Hamrun Spartans.
Iwueke said Asechemie picked up an advanced role as a supporting striker for Nigeria. Asechemie may also take part in an exhibition match between Nigeria and world champions Brazil on Wednesday.
