Marsovin has released a limited edition sparkling wine to commemorate Malta's accession to the European Union. This sparkling wine has been named Classic Celebration as it is launched in time for Malta's EU accession celebrations in May.
"We have been producing our own sparkling wine in the Methode Traditionnelle for a few years now," Marsovin chairman Tony Cassar said, "and it is this experience that has encouraged us to produce Classic Celebration, to be enjoyed during this milestone in Malta's history."
The Methode Traditionnelle is the same method used to produce Champagne in France. The fact that Classic Celebration has been produced in this way added a touch of prestige to the sparkling wine, as the process is intricate and requires constant care and attention by the winemaker, Marsovin said in a statement last week.
Classic Celebration is made from selected Chardonnay grapes and is characterised by its elegance and vivacity, owed to several months maturing on the yeast lees in the bottle, at Marsovin's cellars.
Only 1,486 bottles are available for sale from Marsovin. Due to its one-off limited release, and the timing of its launch, Classic Celebration is also earmarked to become a collector's item.
