Massage therapist accused of raping woman in Sliema hotel spa

The alleged assault took place on Friday afternoon

A massage therapist has been accused of raping a woman while performing a massage at a spa within a Sliema hotel.

The alleged assault took place on Friday at some time between midday and 2pm, with the accused named as 36-year-old Akhil Yesodharan, according to TVM News.

Yesodharan, an Indian national living in Msida, was charged with rape and committing a non-consensual sexual act on the woman. He denies the charges.

The prosecution said the alleged victim had been naked at the time of the assault, while undergoing a massage. It is alleged that the accused penetrated the woman using his finger, the outlet reported.

The accused was remanded in custody.

Attorney General lawyer Jennifer Polidano and police inspectors Wayne Buhagiar and Ian Azzopardi prosecuted.
