The card at yesterday's meeting at Marsa was made up of one Gold and three Silver events on the rather short 1,640m distance, as well as four races from Bronze and Copper on 2,140m.

The programme also included a flat Class B race on 1,250m.

The Gold Class race winner was Matador Knick. This trotter prevailed following a strong dash along the straight for home involving no fewer than five horses. However, the finish line was reached first by Matador Knick (Carmelo Farrugia) ahead of Nillans Comet and Lotus Du Goth in that order.

In the first Silver race of the afternoon, Victory Toll (Julian Farrugia) led from start to finish notwithstanding the final efforts of Prince Brilliance who had to settle for second place.

Then, the photo-finish had to be consulted to determine a winner in the second Silver race in programme as three trotters passed the post almost in a straight line.

Victory eventually went to Charles Camilleri's Freedom As.

Rambler As was classified second and Mezio Josselyn third.

Sakura Victory (Clifforty Calleja) won the third Silver race in store yesterday but not before fending off the stiff challenge of New Hope.

Meanwhile, Massa Broadway (Ryan Neil Azzopardi) had no difficulty in winning the flat race.
