The Malta Developers' Association said this evening that it welcomed the government's decision to reform the Lands Department (Government Properties Division), which is to be replaced by an Authority.

It said it had been calling for such a reform for years.

With reference to the auditor's report, issued yesterday, the MDA said that even if it took a long time to be concluded, "thanks to the Auditor's report on the case and its inevitable consequences, democracy in the country has been strengthened in the areas of transparency and accountability."

The MDA hoped this case would be a lesson that there is no room for abuse in the governance of the country.
