Mdina local council and the Secretariat for Local Government are to hold a two-day festival of flowers and pageanty at Mdina on April 10 and 11.
Called Medieval Mdina, the festival will see a wide range of activities harking back to the ancient past of Malta's former capital.
The narrow streets and several of the palaces which line them will be decorated with floral displays for the occasion.
The activities will include:
Re-enactments by the Historical Re-enactment Group of Malta and Show of Arms,
Jousting Tournament by Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna,
Knights in Armour by UK Group , Battle Abroad,
Knights in Armour by the Irish Group, Freelancing Knights of Redemption,
Theatrical representations by Face to Face group and Free Spirit Dram group,
Re-enactment of Medieval scenes by a large group of local artist and walk about I medieval costumes,
Display of birds of prey by Federicus Rex Falcon Group and Siggiewi Falconry with falcon flights,
DJugledy – German Juggler,
Fire Fingers - Fire dancer from Israel,
Compania La Gostra – Sicilian medieval musicians,
Incoruptus – German medieval instrumental and dancers group,
Sbandieratore by Associazione Sbandieratori e Musici dei 7 Rioni Storici from Rome ( Italy).
There will also be a folk singing, a medieval street market, displays of living experience, demonstrations of weaponry, cooking and medieval life as well as medieval games for everyone, narrations and activities for children,
The entrance fees for all museums and attractions in Mdina will be reduced. A number of tours and lectures will be held.
