Lions Club international director Howard Lee on Monday unveiled a plaque at St Luke's Hospital marking the donation of equipment for the Lions Cornea Bank at the hospital.
The club had also donated glaucoma screening equipment for six health clinics in Malta and Gozo.
Funds for the purchase of all the equipment were made available by the Lions Clubs International Foundation and the Provisional Zone - Malta, which comprises the five local Lions Clubs, namely Malta (host), Sliema, St. Paul's Bay, La Valletta and Mdina.
Former President Vincent Tabone, who is also the patron of the glaucoma screening project, inaugurated the equipment.
Dr Tabone congratulated the Maltese Lions Clubs for their initiatives to fight blindness and related problems. He also thanked the health authorities for cooperating with associations that benefit the Maltese community.
Lions Zone chairman Alfred Micallef Attard thanked the authorities for their interest in sight-related projects undertaken by Lions International.
