Former President and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami told a jubilant crowd on the Granaries this evening that the PN was best placed to continue to lead the country towards a secure future.

The former PN leader was invited to the stage in the last PN mass meeting of the electoral campaign by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi amid long applause and cheers.

He started his address with his characteristic Huti Maltin u Ghawdxin and said he had accepted to by present in order to thank everybody, including elderly people 'like me' whom he had also addressed some 52 years ago at his first meeting - a corner meeting in St Francis Square, Birkirkara, attended by 100 people.

What he saw before him, he said, was a huge crowd which showed how the Nationalist Party was and remained the party which was best able to lead the country from one victory to another.

Fifty years had passed in a flash, he said, because they were 50 years of unceasing work by the PN.

The party always knew where it was heading, it always had confidence in the country and its potential, it always believed in its people, and its dream had been realised.

Dr Fenech Adami said he had also accepted to address today's mass meeting to thank Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi for his hard work during which he had managed to overcome huge difficulties.

He also wished to thank Dr Gonzi for his leadership of the PN for almost 10 years.

"There is no doubt that under Dr Gonzi, this country has a secure future," Dr Fenech Adami told the cheering crowd. The success the country had achieved was due to the fact that the PN always held firm to its values. It never made compromises for votes and it knew that truth always prevailed.

Concluding, Dr Fenech Adami urged those present to do their duty by going out to vote and also to urge others to do likewise so that the country could continue to progress under the PN and under Dr Gonzi.
