No wonder many readers are complaining against the disservice of Melita Cable. The latest is a case in point. When the English football commenced I phoned them to connect me to the sports channel. For some reason they are blocking the sports channel and from what I have heard even the movie channel. They are however advising us that we have to leave the decoder with the power switched on 24 hours a day to avoid disruptions.
These disruptions were never caused before. Now, why do they oblige me to leave the power to the decoder switched on. When I go out I make it a point to switch off all appliances, except of course the fridge. The decoder tends to heat up even more when it is located in a cabinet. When left switched on this may cause a short circuit (although minimal), consequently also a fire. Even if you do as they say, there will be times when you unintentionally switch off. The only reason that they are doing this is because they are trying to discourage tampering with the decoder. But this should not be done at the expense of the legal subscriber.
When you find these channels blocked you then have to phone up for them to re-connect you. If this happens, as in my case after office hours, you will be left without the Sports channel when you may be looking forward to watch your favourite team.
This morning (September 3), I switched on my TV and to my dismay I again found the Sports channel blocked. I immediately phoned Melita Cable to complain. The lady on the line was not very polite and insisted that I have to leave my decoder switched on all the time.
I explained to her but this was not much of a help because she said to me indirectly that she could not care less and that is the situation if I want the service not to be interrupted. What kind of service is this from Melita Cable?
