The Malta Cricket Association Winter League continued last weekend with the top-of-the-table match between Melita Betfair and Krishna.
Melita decided to field first after winning the toss. Robert Krishna and Sam Aquilina opened the batting for their team.
Krishna was run out in the first over and Aquilina was next to go, bowled after seven runs.
The next four batsmen all retired (local rule). Nowell Khosla made 15, Derek Ali top-scored with 23, Adam Krishna added one and Pierre Naudi 14.
Richard Rogers was then bowled for eight runs. Bryan Medlam (two runs) was run out by a good piece of fielding by Andy Naudi as Kevin Krishna (six runs) and Carole Grima Neto remained not out.
The Krishna team totalled 87 runs. Anthony Roberts was Melita's main wicket-taker with two.
Tim Edwards and Joy Ghoseroy opened the batting for Melita. The former left the crease after 13 runs and Malcolm Crabbe only managed four, suffering the same fate.
Anthony Roberts only had one run when he was caught and Ghoseroy was finally ousted by Pierre Naudi. He had made 17 runs.
Tony Slater was run out on three runs by another good piece of fielding by Derek Ali. Justin Brooke was caught for eight but Andy Naudi (15) and Andy Lenard (14) made sure their team kept their unbeaten run in the league, making it three wins from three games.
These two teams face each other in the final game of the competition at Marsa on Saturday morning.
