Tests carried out on the body found in a crevice at l-Ahrax tal-Mellieha on October 18 have identified the corpse as that of Pawlu Grech, 47, who was reported missing on October 14. His family last saw him on October 10.
Mr Grech is believed to have been stabbed in the heart.
He had bought a farm as big as Gozo in Russia and was setting up a potato business with a Russian man who is being questioned by the police.
The youngest of seven siblings lived with his 86-year-old mother and one of five brothers in Magħtab, limits of Naxxar.
Last Friday, his car was spotted by a passer-by who recognised the registration number plate from the missing person’s report. His body was retrieved that afternoon.
