A planning application which sought to demolish a two-storey detached building and reconstruct a four-storey residential building consisting of eight apartments and penthouse with underlying semi-basement garages in Xemxija was today turned down by the board of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority
The board realised that the proposed building would be an over development given the character and existing context of this area.
The area, which is at the top of Xemxija Hill, is characterised with a terracing form of detached and semi-detached dwellings in line with the area's topography.
The board also approved the change of use of three retail outlets at The Point in Tigne into Class 6 catering outlets.
It considered that these three outlets fell within the ‘Secondary Town Centre’ zoning and were adjacent to the open piazza area of The Point.
