MFSA warns of fraudulent firm and cloned investment websites

Fake entity falsely claimed Maltese registration, two rogue websites cloned legitimate company

The Malta Financial Services Authority on Thursday warned about a fraudulent entity claiming to be a Malta-registered company and two clone websites.

The first warning concerned an entity operating under the name of OptimizerTrade Limited which claimed to be a trading and investment firm. The MFSA said the entity was making unauthorized use of a similar name and registered address of a Maltese -registered company. This entity claimed to be “a legal company registered in Malta providing its investment services to the members all around the world”.

The authority stated OptimizerTrade Limited is “neither a Maltese registered company nor licenced or otherwise authorised by the MFSA to provide any investment services or other financial services”.

In a separate warning, the MFSA highlighted two websites  https://pc.triveorvip.cc/ and https://m.triveltd.top which are using the details of an MFSA licenced company Trive Financial Services Europe Ltd.

“Fraudsters are using the details and website contents of this genuine company in an effort to deceive the public,” the authority said.

The MFSA stated these websites are neither Maltese registered companies, nor are they authorised to provide any financial services in or from Malta.

Moreover, the two websites have no association with Trive Financial Services Ltd and appear to be a clone of the legitimate company’s website.
