According to the report of August 15, "about 12 policemen" were posted at a gate in Ta' Cenc to prevent people trespassing onto private land on Saturday.

At a rough estimate that would be about one in three of the police officers on duty in Gozo at the time. It possibly explains why there were no officers available to assist or control thousands of vehicles trying to manoeuvre through the chaos of the ferry terminal at Mgarr during the Santa Marija weekend.
