A Tunisian immigrant was yesterday charged with the murder of another immigrant when he hit him on the head with a hard object at the Safi detention centre on Monday night.

Hammadi Ben Abdallah Rumdani, 46, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Tunisian Mohsen Ben Khedin Ben Ali and was remanded in custody.

Police Inspectors Christopher Pullicino and Walter Spiteri prosecuted.

Dr Anthony Cutajar was legal aide to Rumdani.
