Out of the €3.8 million worth of ticket fines issued in the southern region in the past two-and-a-half years, €3.5 million were in valid fines, Parliamentary Secretary Jose Herrera said today.
Speaking during a consultation meeting on the warden reform with resident of the south and the southeast, he said that €2.3 million were paid but €1.2 million were not.
A total €4.8 million worth of tickets were issued in the south eastern region of which €4.4 million were valid. million €2.7 million were paid, €1.7 million were not.
Dr Herrera said the aim of the proposed reform was to elevate wardens so that they would enjoy greater respect.
