Louis Borg, member of the European Fair Play Movement and president of the Malta Handball Association, writes:
I wish to dedicate a few lines to Milos Stanisavljevic on the occasion of his success in winning the Sportsmanship Act Trophy.
What Stanisavljevic has done is no mean feat. His gesture during a crucial and delicate phase of the international handball match between Malta and Great Britain is not a common one especially when he was playing for the team that was on the losing end.
He has set an example to our young players and his act will be written in golden letters in the books of Fair Play in Malta.
It is not a coincidence that Stanisavljevic has been appointed coach of the junior national handball team and prepared our students for the 2004 FISEC Games. His act had been in line with the motto of the Games - 'Fair Play - the winning way'.
When the European Handball Federation delegate praised in a most enthusiastic way Stanisavljevic's sporting act, I felt a winner just the same even though Malta had lost by a small margin and, therefore, also the bronze medal.
Stanisavljevic deserves the nomination for the UNESCO Fair Play Act.
Milos you have made Malta proud and set a high standard for the future Sportsmanship Act Trophy contenders.
