The Mission Fund is currently holding a fundraising weekend at the Bay Street complex.

Today's activities begin at 10 a.m. and finish at 9 p.m., with entertainment provided from 3 till 6 p.m.

This year the Mission Fund is working on several projects in Tanzania, where there are two Maltese missionaries.

Sr Domenica Ciliberti works in a clinic in Mwanza which cares for 400 people suffering from Aids, and Sr Maria Borda, who is also a doctor, is responsible for a 170-bed hospital in Singida.

The Mission Fund plans to furnish Sr Domenica's clinic; continue the work on a school which was started in the summer of 2008; build a centre for homeless children; undertake maintenance work at the hospital of Sr Maria Borda and also work at a lepers' village.
