Malta's poor performance against Scotland will cost them dearly as they lost two precious points in their bid for a much sought-after third place overall in the final reckonings.

Lack of concentration led the players to falter on various occasions as the team did not perform as expected.

After a very quiet first period, with Scotland leading 8-5, Malta tried to make a comeback in the second half. However, their effort was to no avail as the team couldn't focus well enough on the day.

With Moldova and Azerbaijan joint first, the tussle for third place is likely to be contested by Malta, Scotland and England. Ireland are out of contention.

In today's final match, Malta take on England.
