The Badminton Association's focus last weekend shifted on the H2Only Mixed League after the completion of the Singles and Doubles competitions.
This season, nine teams are contesting the two divisions. Each fixture consists of two singles and two doubles games as various rules were introduced to maintain the balance in all categories.
In the First Division, Birkirkara 1565, captained by Stefan Salomone, and Kenneth Vella's Pawla Wolves Schtag are setting the early pace.
Having both won their respective opening match, they then drew their direct encounter.
Birkirkara Lowenbrau, with Jo'Anne Cassar as skipper, follow within striking distance while Birkirkara John Bull, captained by Jacqueline De Giovanni, are still looking for their first win.
First Division: Birkirkara 1565, Pawla Wolves Schtag 6 points; Birkirkara Lowenbrau 5; Birkir-kara John Bull 2.
In the Second Division, Birkirkara Red Lion and Pawla Wolves Schtag lead the table with maximum points from their initial two encounters.
It is still too early to say but this division has all the markings of a two-horse race between these two teams.
However, though the other squads apparently already lag some distance behind the leaders in the standings, both Shuttles BC and Birkirkara Jazz have only played a single match so far.
Second Division: Birkirkara Red Lion, Pawla Wolves Schtag 8 points; Birkirkara Power Fruit 2; Shuttles BC, Birkirkara Jazz 1.
