The second Malta Laser Class Association Regatta (MLCA), sponsored by D'Agata Marine Nautilius Services of Ta' Xbiex, sets off today and comes to a close tomorrow.

Racing will be held in the Birzebbuga Bay where the local sailing club has made available to the organisers their facilities at Wied il-Buni.

Besides being open to the Laser Standard, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 Classes, participation was again offered to the Optimist Class Dinghies, which the MLCA recognises as the foundation class for the Laser sailors of the future.

The importance of dinghy sailing is becoming more evident by the increasing number of Laser dinghy sailors that participated in the 2004 Rolex Middle Sea Race.
