The Labour Party yesterday called on the Court of Appeal to confirm a judgment ordering Public Broadcasting Services to broadcast EU information spots by the MLP.
The party replied to the appeal filed by PBS from the Civil Court judgment and submitted that the judgment was just and correct and that the appeal was frivolous and vexatious.
The MLP said PBS had to remember that it was competing with other television stations on a commercial basis and that it was also benefiting from a subsidy paid by all citizens, irrespective of their political affiliation.
The authority was constitutionally bound to ensure that the constitution was observed and the MLP submitted that PBS' appeal was frivolous and vexatious and that the company ought to be condemned to pay double costs for filing the appeal.
Dr Joseph Brincat signed the reply.
