MLP promises to protect factory jobs

Opposition Leader Alfred Sant yesterday promised his party would do its utmost to protect and strengthen factory jobs, whether the Labour Party was in opposition or in government.

Dr Sant was speaking at a meeting with workers at the Bulebel industrial estate as part of a series of post-budget meetings.

Dr Sant said he was disappointed that his warnings to workers about their future before the last general election had been branded as "lies".

The workers present at Bulebel expressed their anger that they had been promised a bright future once the country became an EU member but were now facing redundancies, the MLP said.
