The role of the Medical Commission within the Malta Olympic Committee is to advise athletes and coaches on all matters related to sports science, to study the problem of drug abuse and to develop the study of sports at all levels including University and post-graduate levels.

With this objective in mind the commission, in collaboration with the Olympic Solidarity, will hold a seminar 'The role of sports science in young athletes' between November 18 and 20 at the Dolmen Resort Hotel.

Topics to be discussed include obesity, nutritional supplements, acute and chronic injuries, physiotherapeutic modalities and medical problems to young female athletes.

Speakers will include a number of local and foreign guests, namely, Arrigo Giombini, Institute of Sport Medicine - CONI; Kirill Micallef Stafrace, member of executive EFSMA; Lucienne Attard, John Buhagiar, Ivan Riolo (IPES), Milos Stanisavljevic, Raymond Bezzina, Adele Muscat, Lucienne Pace and Maria Ellul from the Health Promotion Department.
