Next Tuesday, England play their third group qualifier for the 2012 European Championship when they host Montenegro at Wembley Stadium.

In these qualifiers, England are looking to cancel their poor showing in the South Africa World Cup.

Some critics still contend that England could have done better had they gone in at half-time drawing 2-2 against Germany after Frank Lampard’s ‘goal’ was disallowed.

The results and scorers after two qualifiers read:

September 3: (Wembley) vs Bulgaria 4-0 (Defoe 3, A. Johnson).

Adam Johnson nets his first England goal and Gary Cahill makes debut for his country. Jermaine Defoe scores hat-trick.

September 17: (Basle) vs Switzerland 3-1 (Rooney, A. Johnson, Bent).

Two goals in two games for Johnson; Bent nets his first goal for England.

Current standings: England (2-0-0) 6; Montenegro (2-0-0) 6; Switzerland (0-0-1) 0; Wales (0-0-1) 0; Bulgaria (0-0-2) 0.

Meanwhile, Stuart Pearce’s England U-21 have qualified for the play-offs and must beat Romania over two legs to qualify for the UEFA Championship final tournament in Denmark between June 11 and 25 next year.
