Moroccan King Mohammed pardoned or reduced the sentences of 1,183 people to mark the Eid al-Fitr feast, which comes at the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, state media said yesterday.

More than 480 people received a total pardon and will be set free while more than 640 will have their sentences cut, the official news agency MAP quoted a Justice Ministry statement as saying.
