The Frank Salt Investments Award for Culture and The Arts has been awarded to M.J. Publications Ltd for their publication Memento Mori - The Most Beautiful Floor In The World, Volume I and II.
The volumes are a work of reference to the glories of the Knights of St John who are buried in St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta.
The award and a cheque of Lm1,000 were presented to Mario Mintoff, M.J. Publications Ltd director by the Minister for Tourism and Culture Francis Zammit Dimech.
The award is given to the person, persons or organisation that in the opinion of the adjudicating committee accomplished the most throughout the year to promote culture and the arts.
The adjudicating committee consisted of Maurice de Giorgio Philip Farrugia Randon, Philip Zammit Briffa and Martin Scicluna.
Also attending the presentation were Andrew Alamango, project coordinator of Etnika which placed second for its efforts at creating a social awareness of local folk music and instruments locally and abroad. John Debono, author of Art And Artisans In St John's And Other Churches In The Maltese Islands Ca. 1650 - 1800 placed third.
Next year's award will be for national pride.
