My motorcycle insurance premium has increased by 133 per cent. I have searched around for a cheaper rate but it was either a case of "sorry, we don't insure motorbikes" or else I was quoted exactly the same rate.

There have been various statements from the Malta Financial Services Authority on this issue, but, as far as I know, the insurance premiums have not gone down one cent. That leaves motorcycle owners in a "take it or leave it" situation. So much for consumer protection!
