Australian Casey Stoner will move up to MotoGP with the LCR Honda team next season after finishing runner-up in the 250cc category this year. Team manager Lucio Cecchinello told the Motograndprix website that the 20-year-old rider was set to sign a new contract.

"Casey contacted me to tell me that he was available and we quickly found an agreement," he said. "We just have to sign the amended contract." Stoner rode an Aprilia for LCR this year but had been expected to join Spaniard Sito Pons's Honda team in MotoGP.
