Motorcyclist dies in school van collision

The early morning accident happened in Mosta

A 57-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash in Mosta early on Monday.

The police said the accident happened at 7am in Vjal il-Qalbiena Mostin.

It involved a Ford Transit school van driven by a 65-year-old man from Dingli and a KTM motorcycle driven by the victim, who was from Mosta.

The victim succumbed to his injuries soon after being admitted to Mater Dei Hospital.

Two children who were in the van, as well as the driver, were unhurt.

The motorcyclist is the 17th person to die on Malta's roads this year. According to national statistics, 10 drivers, two passengers, three pedestrians and a cyclist died in accidents between January and September.
