A motorcyclist was grievously injured in a traffic accident in Birżebbuga on Monday morning.

The police said in a statement the woman, aged 63 and from Birżebbuga, was driving a Honda CRF on Triq Birżebbuga at around 8am.

The other vehicle involved in the crash - a Toyota Dyana van - was driven by a 47-year-old man from Naxxar. 

Police investigations are ongoing.
