A motorcyclist died on Sunday morning when he was thrown off his motorcycle, after hitting a barrier on the Coast Road.

The accident happened at 7.45 at the exit of a bend near Salina as the motorcyclist, 44 of Mellieha, was driving his Suzuki towards St Andrews.

He died on the spot at the foot of an electricity pole. The motorcycle was found further up the road, some 200 metres away.

A magisterial inquiry is being held.
