Motorist convicted of injuring woman on pedestrian crossing
The incident happened in Naxxar in 2024
A 55-year-old man who grievously injured a woman when he hit her with his car has been fined €2,329.
Nigel Carmel Joseph Tabone was accused of driving in a reckless and negligent manner, injuring the woman and failing to slow down as he approached a pedestrian crossing on Labour Avenue, Naxxar.
The incident took place on October 2, 2024.
The woman testified that she had been crossing the road along with a group of people ahead of her when she was hit by a car. She fractured her right wrist.
The court observed that the driver failed to keep a proper lookout and should have been extra cautious at a pedestrian crossing. It held that he had been driving in a negligent manner.
The man was therefore fined €2,329. He had his driving licence suspended for two months and had six points deducted from his licence.
