Woman, two children injured in Lija head-on crash

The crash between a car and a van caused a long traffic tailback

A woman and two children were injured when a car and a van collided head-on near Lija cemetery on Tuesday.

The accident happened at 1.20pm in Mosta Road, creating a long tailback of traffic as a section of the busy road was closed in both directions.

The 43-year-old woman from Mosta was driving a Toyota Vitz with two children as passengers. All three were taken to hospital for treatment. Their condition is not immediately known.

The Toyota Hiace van was being driven by a 45-year-old man from San Gwann. Police said he was not injured in the accident.

At 3.30pm, the road was still closed to traffic in both directions.
