St Mary Fireworks Group of Mqabba have been chosen to stage the fireworks display synchronised to music during the banquet hosted by Queen Elizabeth II for the Commonwealth heads of government at the SAS Golden Sands Resort in Ghajn Tuffieha.
This fireworks display will take place on Friday at 9.15 p.m., towards the end of the banquet on the first day of the retreat for the Commonwealth heads of government.
The display will include barrages and other spectacular pieces similar to the display given by the St Mary Fireworks Group on the eve of the feast at Mqabba, every August 14. A computerised system will also be used to enhance the synchronisation of the fireworks to the music.
The musical scores chosen for this unusual event are a waltz from the Malta Suite by Charles Camilleri, the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah and the finale of Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1.
The best vantage point for the public to view this display is the road leading from Mgarr to Ghajn Tuffieha.
The St Mary Fireworks Group of Mqabba said it feels honoured that it has been chosen to provide the fireworks display at the banquet hosted by the Queen. It added that this is an acknowledgment of the significance of fireworks for which Malta is becoming renowned. The group feels this choice is also an acknowledgment of its well known fireworks displays during the Mqabba parish feast of Santa Marija.
