The annual general meeting of the Malta Union of Bank Employees has unanimously confirmed William Portelli president for a third term. He first took office in 1999.
In a speech he outlined the union's "significant" achievements in the past four years, describing them as tough, rough and not yet enough.
Apart from reporting on the strength of MUBE's internal administrative and financial set-up, Mr Portelli stressed that the union's future had to be well managed if progress was to be registered in negotiations.
The new labour law, together with Malta's entry into Europe meant a future changing environment and it was imperative that the MUBE prepared itself well in order to be in a strong position to meet the challenges, he said.
