The Malta Environmental and Planning Authority, Mepa, currently has before it 16 applications involving wind turbines. To date the authority has approved two such applications.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Philip Mifsud (PN) the applications involve a number of reasons, including micro wind turbines on private properties, farms, workshops, factories and an afforestation and visitors centre, in various parts of Malta.
