The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses has called on St Luke's Hospital to withdraw a call for applications for staff, which it said impinged on the role of nurses.

The union said it would register an industrial dispute unless the call for applications was suspended by tomorrow.

It also warned that it would not attend eventual negotiations on the Mater Dei Hospital when it was clear that the government already had its agenda drawn up.
