Everybody is becoming aware that if our companies are to achieve world class performance and compete successfully in this time of rapid change, one must invest more in upgrading the organisation's greatest asset, its people. Investing in people is seen as a vital core in any organisational strategy. This can be seen from the overwhelming response to all training programmes organised by the Malta University Services.
MUS Training and Education Division is a well-established training centre with one of the most exhaustive training programme of courses in Malta. This is because, as a University-based company, MUS can rely on an experienced and professional pool of lecturers who have made education and training their career.
Course participants can be assured of receiving relevant training with direct application to their own work situation. One of the programmes starting this month is "First-time managers", a course for first line supervisors.
This programme covers several aspects of great relevance to every supervisor, for example, what the job really entails, organising and delegating, directing and co-ordinating one's department, communicating new ideas and information, motivating and leading work teams, managing one's time, tackling costs and raising efficiency, problem solving, handling complaints and grievances in a tactful manner and maintaining good discipline.
This 60-hour course highlights important changes occurring in today's highly competitive environment and combines lectures, readings, group discussions, case studies and experiential exercises. Towards the end of the course participants will prepare an assignment relating the course to their work experience and environment.
The lecturers are drawn from within the Department of Management, FEMA. This course starts on Thursday.
