MUSC sports events

The Malta University Sports Club (MUSC) ranks as one of the oldest student societies within the University of Malta. The club aims at combining academic activity with physical activity in the life of the students, and regularly organises individual and team competitions in a number of different sporting activities, such as soccer, table-tennis, snooker, athletics and basketball.

Other activities such as volleyball, hockey, judo, darts, table soccer, tennis, windsurfing and rock-climbing have all also found their way into the calendar in recent years. The MUSC organises an annual athletics meeting, and fields representative teams in various national competitions.

MUSC would like to encourage all students to take up an active lifestyle on campus especially since 2004 is the European Year of "Education through sport". MUSC embraces the notion of mens sana in corpore sano in order to live a balanced life and integrate the mental with the physical itself.

A one-day basketball tournament accompanied by music will be organised on Campus on November 17. The deadline to apply is November 12.

Another tournament is scheduled for the second semester at Tal-Qroqq Indoor Complex. This competition will be held between February and March. Each team will play a game every week or two, depending on the amount of teams taking part.

Also the MUSC will be organising an inter-faculty soccer tournament. Junior College and MCAST are also eligible to take part. Any team interested can contact Dermot Galea on 9928-0282 or e-mail musc@um.edu.mt The deadline for enrolment is November 12.
