Updated - Adds video comments - Prime Minister Joseph Muscat insisted today that mooring an LNG tanker inside Marsaxlokk Bay to feed the new power station would be safer that anchoring it outside the bay because of navigational factors.
Dr Muscat brushed aside questions on who had given him such advice.
Asked whether he would still keep his promise to resign if the new power station was not up and running by March 2015, Dr Muscat said he kept his promises and would reduce electricity tariffs from this month.
Speaking at Valletta Waterfront, Dr Muscat spoke on how the government wanted to see Malta become a land of opportunity for investors and a beacon of equality and innovation.
He listed some of the government's milestones, including the enactment of the Whistle-blower Act, removal of prescription on alleged corruption by politicians, a reduction of the budget deficit, the introduction of co-ed in state secondary schools, record tourist arrivals, reduced income tax for parents, the new supplementary allowance for children at risk of poverty and the reduction of domestic electricity tariffs later this month.
