Music to the ears at St. George's Square
What a pleasant surprise it was for me to walk across Pjazza San Ġorġ in Valletta the other morning! Quite unexpectedly I heard Charles Camilleri's beautiful music coming out of nowhere. I stopped to listen and to find out where it was coming from.
What a pleasant surprise it was for me to walk across Pjazza San Ġorġ in Valletta the other morning! Quite unexpectedly I heard Charles Camilleri's beautiful music coming out of nowhere. I stopped to listen and to find out where it was coming from. Suddenly the small fountains outside the President's Palace came to life and played joyfully synchronising with the magnificent music. I just had to stop and enjoy the spectacle.
I never knew about this wonderful, though minor, innovation for Malta, quite common in other capitals. I was told that in the evenings there are also coloured lights to go with the water. I am now waiting for the occasion to see this combination effect of music, water and lights.
Compared to other great fountains worldwide, this is extremely insignificant but I hope it's the beginning of something bigger when the entrance to Valletta is changed and properly enhanced.
