The Malta Union of Teachers has ordered teachers not to report for work before school hours and not to carry out any inventory-related work.
In a rally held this evening, the union also told assistant heads of school not to accept delegations for visits to classes. Peripatetic teachers are not to sign their log books.
Union president John Bencini said the union was, if necessary, prepared for a long fight with the government over its demand for better allowance to the teaching grades, commensurate with their responsibilities, but industrial action would be stepped up if no progress was made
