MUT to issue directives to supply categories on Friday

The Malta Union of Teachers will be issuing directives for industrial action during a rally being held for “supply” categories, kindergarten assistants and learning support assistants on Friday.

The union said it had been trying to reach an agreement which was fair to these categories for months and had declared an industrial dispute with the government on October 31.

It said that the implementation of the reform when it came to these categories had not yet started and they were not given what they were promised. As a result the workers felt deceived and unappreciated.

The supply categories incorporate supply teachers, supply kindergarten assistants and supply learning support assistants.
