Mużika Mużika to be broadcast on four local TV stations

Festivals Malta strikes deal for event to air on TVM, ONE, F Living and Smash TV

Mużika Mużika will be shown live on four local television stations for the first time, as Festivals Malta widens the festival’s broadcast reach ahead of this year’s edition.

TVM, ONE, F Living Channel and Smash TV will all carry the live shows after Festivals Malta issued a call for expressions of interest to the main stations, the agency said.

The broadcaster list is notable because the festival has largely been associated with the national broadcaster since its relaunch in 2021.

In a separate accessibility push, Festivals Malta said the festival will also be broadcast with sign language on TVM+ for the first time.

The sixth edition of Mużika Mużika will be held on March 19, 20 and 21, 2026 at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali.

The festival’s three-night format includes an opening night dedicated to the competing original songs, a second night built around “classics” pairing competing singers with established artists, and a final, when the winner is chosen.

Festivals Malta said Mużika Mużika drew more than 390,000 viewers in 2025 and expects the expanded broadcast to reach a broader audience this year.

Festivals Malta chairman Aaron Zahra said the multi-station live broadcast, alongside the sign-language transmission, reinforces the festival’s national character and should give Maltese artists greater visibility.

Agency CEO Frans Agius said the broadcasting push took significant long-term planning.

"This continues to build on the momentum we've achieved in the past years to sustainably grow the festival's audience," he said.
