Nadur Youngsters bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a 6-2 victory over champions Sannat Lions to regain top spot.

In other matches, Victoria Hotspurs beat SK Victoria Wanderers in the derby and Kerċem Ajax recorded an important win over fellow relegation strugglers Xewkija Tigers.

Nadur staged an impressive fightback in the second period to overpower Sannat who had taken a 2-0 half-time lead.

Sannat were the better side in the first half, going ahead through a spectacular volley by John Camilleri on 34 minutes. A header by Sabri Rais, two minutes from the end of the first half, gave the Lions a 2-0 lead.

Nadur were not demoralised and produced a determined reaction after the change of ends. Claudio Antunes reduced the arrears and Anthony Portelli levelled for the Youngster in the opening 20 minutes of the first half.

Saviour Attard put Nadur ahead for the first time on 67 minutes with a close-range header as Sannat were nowhere to be seen.

Nadur took advantage of Sannat's confusion to score three more goals, twice through Antunes, who completed a personal hat-trick, and Kyle Russell.

Victoria Hotspurs took maximum points from their derby clash with SK Victoria Wanderers to stay in the upper part of the table. The Hotspurs scored the decisive goal after just 17 minutes thanks to an Uchenna Anyanwu header.

The Wanderers' reaction was sterile as the Hotspurs refused to let the game slip out of their control despite missing two important players, Alex Tramboo and Michael Vella due to suspension. Daniel Farrugia was injured.

SK Victoria Wanderers had a good chance to equalise 12 minutes from time but Ige Adesina blasted high from an excellent position following a fine move by Ajibade Adesina.

Kerċem Ajax inflicted a 4-0 defeat on Xewkija Tigers in last weekend's relegation duel.

Kerċem made a strong start and opened the scoring after 11 minutes when Manuel Tabone hit the target with a fine volley. On 28 minutes, the two teams were reduced to 10 men after Xewkija's Christian Bugeja and Kerċem's Eman Hussein were sent off for fighting.

Tabone doubled Kerċem's lead 19 minutes from time to all but kill the Tigers' hopes of avoiding defeat. Xewkija finished the match with nine men after Patrick Camilleri was red-carded for a second caution 12 minutes from time.

Kerċem took advantage of the extra player on the pitch, Marlon Mamo scoring a brace in the final stages to round his team's victory.
