The foundation of European Carnival Cities will be honouring Nadur as the 'World Carnival City' during its 24th international convention to be held in Pernik, Bulgaria, in May.
Nadur mayor Chris Said will be among the candidates for the new international executive board.
The FECC is open for municipalities, national art commissions, professional NGOs and other organisations. The aim of the organisation is to exchange knowledge on financing, fund-raising and structures, while consulting organisations and teaching construction of floats.
It also aims to motivate techniques for volunteers who promote carnival as a cultural heritage in European institutions.
Meanwhile, the Nadur local council will next year be hosting the 25th FECC convention in Nadur. The programme has already been drafted. Around 400 carnival enthusiasts are expected to be in Nadur for the silver jubilee convention.
