Naomi Cachia re-confirmed as government whip

Cachia will once again serve as PL whip, Fleur Abela appointed her deputy

Labour MP Naomi Cachia has been re-confirmed as government whip following the Labour Party's first parliamentary group meeting of the new legislature.

Speaking to Times of Malta at the end of the first meeting on Thursday morning, Prime Minister Robert Abela said Cachia was once again given the role she held in the last legislature.

Cachia, who was elected via a casual election on Friday, was first appointed PL whip in January 2024 taking over from Andy Ellul.

Fleur Abela, who was elected on Tuesday via the gender corrective mechanism, will be Cachia’s deputy, the prime minister said.
