Duels and Duets by David Serge and Matthew Pullicino has won the Best Production award in this year's National Film Competition organised by the Malta Cine Circle.

Second placed was Mela Darba by Alan Fenech and third Self Flattery by Ivan De Battista and Jesmond Bugeja.

The special award for photography went to Duels and Duets which also won the award for editing.

The special award for direction was won by Mela Darba while Angel Eyes by Tony Parnis won the award for the best use of sound.

The Best Acting Performance award was won by the cast of seven boys in Mela Darba.

The jury's special award for technical achievement went to the film Saving Baby Alien by Anthony Agius. A show of the award winners and other participating films is being held at the British Legion Hall, Melita Street, Valletta on July 1 at 7.15 p.m.

The awards will also be presented during the evening.

Entrance is free and the public is invited to attend. Dress is smart casual and children under 12 years are not admitted.
