Nikki Muscat, a member of the ASA national team, set a new national record and an age-group D mark when clocking 29.70 in the 50m butterfly. Muscat thus erased the record of 29.84 that belonged to Angela Galea since the 2005 World Championships, held in Montreal, Canada.

During last week's swim meet, spread over three days, several personal bests and a number of records were achieved by the swimmers.

The foreign teams showed their appreciation for the excellent organisation of this international meet by the ASA Swimming Board. These events serve to promote Malta not only as a tourist attraction but also as an ideal destination for sports activities.

On Saturday, the medal ceremony was presided by Austin Sammut, president of the ASA, and Mark Galea, chairman of the ASA Swimming Board.
